Going alone to California - San Diego, any well-mannered lodging / places recommendation?
Now that I will be flying all the agency there alone from Singapore untimely next month and my penpal is missing, I better start booking my own accomodation. As I own spent quite abit for the upper air ticket, does anyone have opinion for budget lodging? I don't mind a budget guesthouse / inn / dormitory (no curfew) as long as it's safe and accessible. I am an Asian Chinese Femme les and will also close to to visit some lesbian strip club / barn dance bar and pls consent to me know the name of the club if you can recommend a fun one but no drugs type of place.

Marriott hotels are reasonably priced and nearby are many to choose from throughout San Diego County. Stay away from places close to Econo-lodge, Motel 6, Super 8 and others that are discount hotels if you are alone in a strange city. I am a home-grown of San Diego and live here now, and I can put in the picture you that while these discount motels are okay, many are located contained by not so good areas of town. If you pick a Marriott hotel, check out the hours of daylight of the week you are coming because it can influence the price.
I can tell you that if you are booking a motel, which is cheaper than masses hotels, if you stay in Mission Valley, check out Hotel Circle. That is, Google hotels surrounded by San Diego in Mission Valley which influence that they are located in or around Hotel Circle. These hotels are adjectives next to one another and are surrounded by close proximity to the freeway, restaurants and I believe they have shuttle services. It's a clad and safe place to be and the price ranges can change from one hotel to the next. It is also of late minutes from downtown San Diego, the Zoo, Sea World, the museums of Balboa Park etc. If you are looking for interesting nightlife, you could check out the Gaslamp Quarter in downtown San Diego. As I am not gay, I can't suggest the type of places you asked for, but I can say aloud without a doubt that you will feasible have fun beside the nightlife downtown. Just be careful, if you are going to be alone. It's acceptably safe and nearby are a lot of nation, but there are definately those unsafe elements that you will find with the downtown of any significant city. The Manchester Hyatt is fantastic, but a bit pricey. Great location, lively lump, great views.
Your best bet is to use Hotwire.com. I own used them several times when visiting SD and own never been disappointed.

I stayed at the Red Lion Inn contained by San Diego, it was nice and not too expensive.
