Bend, Oregon is a "happening" kind of town (city), I would hold to say that Yes, near are many "transplanted" Californians living near. I lived there for 15 years (from 1984-1999). At one time it be a small town named Farewell Bend. As the pioneers traveling the Oregon Trail would regularly split up from others they had traveled across the country beside in the lorry trains, some heading southwest towards Tollgate(Sisters ,Oregon), West to the Willamette Valley, Northward to the Colombia River etc. The Deschutes River runs through Bend, and Mt. Bachelor is a great place to snow ski. Good weather, but it gets COLD contained by the winter. Central Oregon Community College is a fine college, so, nightlife is great, as is dining, dancing, breweries, shopping, music and art. It is one and only 3 hours from Portland, Salem, or Eugene, and 31/2 to the Oregon Coast. Check it out from your browser.
