Where are the best places to live surrounded by DC?
I've just be admitted to George Washington University graduate conservatory and since I live so far away I need to find an apartment online! (eeek!!) I could really use some direction surrounded by terms of finding a place thats not dangerous, inexpensive but not toooo far from GWU. pleeeeeease help! :)

I agree w/ L82 you need to provide for a moment more info on what you are looking for :) DC has like mad of small apartment buildings 4-12 units...which are severely nice and tucked in to a mixture of neighborhoods around the city. Sorry they do not advertise on-line you hold to be in the nouns and see the vacant sign.
GWU is moderately close to VA...you should not limit yourself to of late looking on line contained by DC, but also check out Alexandria and Arlington.

Honestly the simply places within DC that are worth living within are too expensive and only rich empire live there. Most expected you will have to live outside DC as here is no middle class part of DC. You are any rich or you are poor
My sister lives in Woodbridge, VA and she say it's the best part of the DC nouns to live in.
there are some nice places surrounded by baltimore, but that may be to far away. I think it's around a partly hour away. But, try bel-air
Washington D.C is a dismal place to live. Try to stay out of downtown D.C.

What's your price extent? I ask because, depending on where you're from, no housing surrounded by the entire DC metro area is going to give the impression of being inexpensive. I came here thinking I could find a 1-bedroom to rent for in the region of $600, and had a remarkably, very rude awakening!
Also, are you going to own a car, or will you be dependent on Metro? One party mentioned Fairfax--it's a very nice nouns, but it's really inconvenient if you don't have a coup¨¦.
Silver Spring is nice and less expensive than lots other areas--would be about 40 minutes away from GWU taking the red strip to the blue/orange lines.
Another place you might want to check out is Arlington, VA along the orange and blue lines--particularly areas call Ballston, Virginia Square, Court House, Clarendon, Rosslyn, Pentagon City, and Crystal City. There's lots of restaurants and stores within walking distance, and Metro is right within. Also check out Alexandria--Old Town is expensive, but there's lots of cheaper places outside of there if you're ready to take a bus to metro.
Lastly, post on craigslist looking for a roommate or to rent a room. You may be pleasantly surprised (or not) :)

D.C. is really expensive you might want to look at apartments contained by downtown Silver Spring; it's not that cheap but it's not as expensive as D.C., and it's about 25 mins from K st.
GW is in the Foggy Bottom nouns. There are a few apartment buildings there. If you can't find anything within Foggy Bottom, try to find a place near a metro station. Below is a map

Dupont Circle, Woodley Park, and Cleveland Park are nice places to live, but more expensive. Columbia Heights is a cheaper and up-and-coming neighborhood (which vehicle there is some city crime there). You can also look on the Virginia side close to Clarendon and Court House. Out towards Vienna is more suburban.
