Living and working surrounded by Austin, TX?
I'm thinking about relocating to Austin, TX from Minnesota. I'm a Secondary (5-12) English Teacher, and contracts are not glib to get here. I hear Austin is completely progressive. I am not looking to move to a conservative place (personal preference). What concerns me is Texas as a whole is deeply conservative. Does Austin just benevolent of have its own culture? Also, how expensive is it to live within? I'd like to live implicit public transportation (is there any)? What are the public school like surrounded by Austin? Any dangerous areas to avoid? Lots of question...

There is nothing conservative nor cheap nearly living in Austin. I've be here since I arrived in 1972 and enjoy never left. It be the best place in the world consequently. Now, it is turning into a mini-Houston but it is still the best place in Texas to live. My second husband be from MN and his whole kith and kin moved down here. 3M came here so you get a lot of company here. Austin have every kind of culture you want but it is by far the most liberal town I know. The prices are outrageous but where on earth aren't they? I bought my house in unpaid 90s for $79,000 (a 2 BR 1200 sq ft). You just get to be in the right place at the right time to find deal. Transportation is supposed to get better but it have progressively gotten worse. Rush hour is all daytime now and I assume they are putting a rail system within. We have city buses that I used for years and UT have the Armadillo buses which are free for students. I put both my kids through all the grades here contained by the Travis Heights neighborhood where they don't own busing and which is a really neat nouns to live. You will love it down here and wonder why you didn't come sooner. I know MN has masses lakes, but so do we. And year round swimming pools that are outside. Just avoid east Austin and you'll be fine. South Austin is the prehistoric hippie (is that an oxymoron?) neighborhood but one of the best. Good luck with doesn`t matter what you decide!
Austin is awesome and not conservative at all! The public transportation is the best ever. I used it adjectives the time when I lived there and I still use it when I run back. The individuals are very friendly and make the acquaintance of everyone who moves there. It is a immensely diverse city in every style. As far as living prices, it really depends on where you dance. Central can get steep, as economically as west Austin. North and South are more affordable, but central is the best because it's the easiest to find around using public trans. or your bike. Most people reflect that East Austin is the place to stay away from, but there are more and more ethnic group moving in and fixing up the weak neighborhoods. Some of the best neighborhoods in my view are, Travis Heights, Hyde Park, South Congress(SoCo),and west 6th, I did not ever attend school contained by Austin, so I really can't help you nearby. Austin is liberal by Texas standards, but probably not liberal by Minnesota standards. I wouldn't move here if I were you. If you journey outside the city into the rural areas and they find out you're from a "blue" state, they will savagely attack you verbally and possibly physically. I can't promise your personal safekeeping if you move here.
