14 miles each day to institution within San Diego, is this deeply? FWY traffic info needed please.?
I'm moving there surrounded by a couple of months, the nursing school I'm going to isn't contained by an area I want to live surrounded by, so the apt that I want is 14 miles from the school via Mapquest. Is this excessive or conventional? I will be going 805 S bound. How is the traffic around 7:30am and 5:30pm? I currently live in L.A, so I am used to fruitless traffic, but would like to know is the 805 bumper to bumper the track the L.A freeways are? Thanks.

Most of the traffic on the 805 is headed northbound to Kearny Mesa, Golden Triangle/Sorrento Valley nouns in the MORNING. In the evening it adjectives heads southbound into the South Bay Area and the traffic on it is pretty fruitless, but not the worse in SD County. So it sounds approaching you might be doing the reverse commute if you are going 805 SB in the morning and NB surrounded by the evening so it won't be bad. What you might want to do is turn to Traffic.com in the morning and evenings and check out what the traffic is resembling at that time so it can give you a honest idea what ordinary patterns are resembling. They have this phase that allows you to choose where you capture on and off the freeway and it will approximate the travel time base on current traffic conditions.
It's not that excessive and probably pretty close to what a lot of empire drive. I drive 30 miles each process from Pacific Beach to Carlsbad everyday and the evenings southbound on I-5 are horrible; mornings are fine though.
edit: you shouldn't own a problem then, when i worked downtown and lived contained by La Jolla/UTC area here was never traffic heading south contained by the morning or north in the evening. That's if truth be told a good spot to be located b/c most of the traffic is heading at hand in the morning and out of in that in the evening so you'll enjoy the reverse.
Southbound 805 is not too crowded within the morning, but northbound is usually gridlocked. The opposite is true surrounded by the afternoon as well, as tons commuters work in Sorrento Valley and the Golden Triangle (area border by the 5, 805 and 52 freeways). The 5 north of the 5-805 split is extremely stout southbound all the path up to Carlsbad in the morning and vice-versa surrounded by the afternoon (think 405-type traffic).

my job is 36 miles away from home, one passageway...my college is about 15 miles away, one means of access. I dont think it is a doomed to failure drive (14 miles that is)...I live in Atlanta so I own to deal next to A LOT of stop and go traffic, its tremendously annoying...but not enough to drop out of college or quit my work!
805s from where? Actually come to suggest about it. 805 is desperate during those times. but say from where on earth you are starting? I can give you a better notion.
not a sbad as la la traffic but this is still a large city. and you will be surrounded by the middle of it at those times. Especially in the summer time when the do and races are going.

without knowing the nouns from which you are starting, it is difficult to give you the information you are asking. However, surrounded by my opinion a 14 mile commute is pretty correct. At 7:30 a.m. the traffic in any direction isn't bumper to bumper, but at 5:30p.m. the traffic will be pretty congested. I hold an 18 mile one way commute and although the traffic is annoying, it give me a chance to unwind after work. Good luck and treatment to San Diego..you will love it here.
Hi there! Welcome to SD from LA! In San Diego, 14 miles isn't too impossible. At 7:30a, you should be able to fly on the 805 South since the worst traffic at that hour is trying to shift North into La Jolla. As for 5:30p in the evening, expect foremost bottlenecks around La Jolla (Sorrento Valley/MiraMesa Blvd, La Jolla Blvd, Noble Dr) and more bottlenecking trying to merge onto the 8 East and/or Mission Gorge (assuming you're going to SDSU). If you're attending USD (requires 8 West, which has little traffic surrounded by the evening with the exception of cars exiting Mission Center Rd.) or another university, then you should be angelic to go. I've roofed two great sites for checking traffic here.
Hope this makes sense. The polite news is that you're sure to move a intact lot faster here than anywhere in LA at these times no business how bad our traffic might be. The lone thing that messes us up are: rainfall (seriously!), bridge/road signs/power lines collapsing on freeway (rarity) and of course central accidents.
