Answers:
Stay away from crackheads! I have a great time in Atl. People be friendly, lots of great shops, restaurants, and bars. It's a huge city and the places you'll be visit will be in clad areas I'm sure. Be smart and stay away from dodgy areas and you'll be fine.
lived within Atl my whole life- never be mugged. Just stay in the areas where on earth you see lots of people.
Try Underground Atlanta, or the Coca-Cola museum, or Zoo Atlanta & the Cyclorama. I suggest for a sunshine of shopping you go to Underground.
You will be safer downtown than contained by most other areas of the city. Tips: don't dress too revealing (you might catch unwanted attention), no bling-bling, work like you've be there past, stay in public landscape, police presence is usually everywhere. You should be fine. There are a few nice shops downtown in The Undergound Atlanta, there's also the Ga Aquarium, but most of the stirring shops & resturants are Midtown & Atlantic Station (across I-85 from Midtown).
dont be stupid
As most people own said, just do adjectives the things you'd do in any majority city and you'll be fine -- don't walk alone surrounded by unlit areas, don't go down alleys, etc. Just use some adjectives sense and you'll be okay.
The one thing I'd put in is to stay away from the Sweet Auburn area at darkness. Big gang territory. It's doubtful you'd be near anyway, but just a register. I agree with whoever said avoid Underground Atlanta. It's not as safe and sound as it could be, but avoid it more just because it sucks.
Lots of shopping contained by the Virginia-Highlands and Little 5 Points (often referred to as "Little 5" or "L5P", and not to be confused with 5 Points, where on earth Underground is). A lot of upscale, 5th Avenue-ish shopping in Buckhead.
I've lived in Atlanta 7 years and i've never be mugged, robbed or carjacked. Just be smart, don't walk around at dark by yourself, stay in areas where on earth there are lots of populace. If it looks like a slumy nouns stay away from it. Don't pull out your wallet or money contained by open scenery of everybody, or flash around cash and lots of jewelry. There are street cameras and police are usually near. As long as you aren't walking in some sketchy place by yourself you'll be fine.
DO NOT dance to Underground Atlanta for shopping...(and you guys say you hold lived here your whole duration? tsk tsk) Underground is full of crap shops - if you want to get an Orange Julius and you are a 10-year-old run there.
Check out the shops at Atlantic Station...I propose - it is the most generic area of town next to chain stores.
If you are looking for something not-so-mainstream and hipper, turn shopping in Little Five Points...
The likelihood of you getting mugged in Atlanta are slim to none...
Hmmm...I've lived surrounded by the Atlanta metro area for 6 years and own rarely hear of any muggings. Here are my suggestions to avoid becoming a victim.
Be aware of your surroundings at adjectives times. Stay in notably populated areas with lots of other pedestrians. Park within attended parking lots (yes, you have to reward for them). Stay away from dark alleys. Don't appear to own a lot of money. Stay out of bank, since we are the bank robbery funds of the country. Use common sense.
lokc your vehicle dont carry around valubles dont amble around with expensive clothes, ALWAYS CARRY A PHONE
