I am looking for something different. Maybe an upcoming art show that will serve wine, or an awesome view of something. Just something save for the movies or restaurant and a typical night club. Any accepted wisdom?

The Art Mueseum is awesome within Houston and really world class.
I love going to the Village near Rice University. It's a bunch of shops and laid spinal column eateries. It also has some gorgeous backdrop.
The Menil Collection is another favorite spot of mine as well as the Holocaust Mueseum. Have fun!
I haven't gotten to go but but the Houston Museum of Natural Science is having an event call Mixers, Elixirs & IMAX... It sounds like alot of fun! They own a live band, change bar, daning underneath the dinosaurs, appetizers, and you can watch an IMAX show formerly it all starts! Check out the trellis site and see what you think!

The National Museum of Funeral History is in Houston. I've read that it's reasonably interesting. I'd like to budge there. Check it out on the Internet.

The Houston Museum District is an area of Houston, Texas where on earth many of the city's museums are located. THE THEATRE DISTIRCT (DOWNTOWN)

GALVESTON
Galveston is particular for its historic neighborhoods and a ten-mile long seawall designed to protect the city from floods. It is also home to the infamous Balinese Room, a historic nightclub and former illegal laying a bet hall located on a 600-foot pier extending into the Gulf of Mexico. The city houses copious tourist attractions. The attractions include the Galveston Schlitterbahn waterpark, Moody Gardens, the Lone Star Flight Museum, a downtown neighborhood of historic buildings known as "The Strand," plentiful historical museums and mansions, and miles of beach front. The Strand plays host to a every twelve months Mardi Gras festival, Galveston Island Jazz & Blues Festival, Texas Beach Fest, Lone Star Bike Rally, and a Victorian-themed Christmas Mardi Gras called "Dickens on the Strand" (honoring the works of novelist Charles Dickens, especially A Christmas Carol) within early December. There are lots of shops along The Strand that you can own fun in. Other attractions surrounded by Galveston include Moody Gardens, the Galveston Island Railroad Museum, Schlitterbahn, the Strand and the Lone Star Flight Museum. Galveston is also home to several historic ships: the tall ship Elissa at the Texas Seaport Museum and USS Cavalla and USS Stewart, both berthed at Seawolf Park on immediate Pelican Island. For art shows I would consult the Houston Chronicle Friday treatise entertainment section. If you are looking for an awesome scene of the city I would try and find a dining establishment in one of the skyscrapers downtown - I'm sure they must enjoy something along those lines.
