You can also try the O.I.L. Ranch. (It is not almost Oil. It is the initials of the original owner of the cattle farm.) They are about 30 miles northwest of Houston on 290. You can find their info at

Forget the King Ranch. It is a five hour drive.

Try the George Ranch in Richmond. It is smaller number than a half hour drive from Downtown.

Look up King Ranch. I reflect it's only a couple of hours from Houston, and it's the largest working fruit farm in Texas I infer.
