The city is safer than most cities around the world and unquestionably safest of any city in the United States.

There's with the sole purpose one rule; "Don't believe anyone" ...ever. Thives are here, but they don't rob you, they talk you out of your money. They'll enjoy some story about selling a rag, or needing a tow truck, or... powerfully imagine it and they'll report you they need money for it. No concern what they ask you for, no matter what they try to supply you, if you don't want to part beside your cash, after DON'T. They prey on your instinct top be polite and charitable, but just rebuke them like the rest of us do.

If you want darkness life afterwards check out St. Mark's Place in Greenwich Village, or Bedford Avenue surrounded by Williamsburg.

Have fun.
This year i went to contemporary york i advise you to visite central park, the statue of liberty, macys and the city it self its brilliant and dont shift on high heal because you have to step most of it because thers too much trafic
I also required to add that spawn sure you keep up the tread when you walk. New Yorkers wander fast and if you saunter slow, be prepared to be bumped into. The first answerer in my assessment is right in oodles ways but almost made it sound for a moment scary. It's not terrifying so don't think you hold to walk beside your head down to avoid conflict.

NY is a BIG city beside ALOT of people walking around at ALL times...you wont even be notice unless you look like Godzilla. Just enjoy fun, keep up the step and don't just stop walking contained by the middle if the sidewalk to look at something.
Wear shoes that are comfortable to walk contained by. You won't be driving from place to place but walking.

Know where your wallet is adjectives the time.

Pee before you depart from the hotel. It's tough to find a restroom unless you're eating at a restaurant.

Don't clear eye contact with nation on the street. Avoiding this routinely is one way New Yorkers win a bit of privacy.

Don't flash your money around when paying for something.

Nothing you wear is too weird, and nobody really care what you look like. Be comfortable.

Avoid high-crime areas, especially after murky. The front desk at the hotel will advise you of any close by, but merely if you ask.

If someone mugs you, hand over doesn`t matter what they want immediately. Don't assume this is a adjectives occurrence, but it does begin.

Most of all, hold a great trip!
Maryn & Foxinsox gave great direction! I just considered necessary to add..don't stop & chat next to the guys on the street that want to sing or rap to you. They are only trying to trade you their crappy homemade cd for $20. And most of them do not have permit to sell things on the street.
Have fun surrounded by NY! See a show on Broadway...you won't regret it!
