did this some years back and it take 60 minutes
Don't bring a bus! Form the AirTran, do to the subway. You can get from Jamaica to Penn Station that method. Should be only give or take a few $2. My husband and I did this when we were within NYC. We stayed in Midtown and took the subway from Culumbus Circle to Penn Station, from in that (Ithink the "E" train) to the AirTran (went right throught Jamaica)
The ride take about 35 minutes to Penn Station, but other give for a while more time you don't want to be rushing to catch the bus.
