What are the likelihood of Hawaii secede from the U.S.?
I heard support for it is high-ranking.

Never going to come about. The economy within is completely tourist driven. If they try to secede, the tourism would stop and it would become, over time, just another 3rd world country. I REALLY dont reflect they want that.
Not very worthy, at this point in history. Most of the chitchat about secession is from Republicans who own recently opposed a bill within the Congress for a limited form of self-governance for the home-grown Hawaiians. They've been throwing around jargon like "secession" and "Balkanization" to panic people.
Don't believe the hype.
Support for secession surrounded by Hawaii isn't high...but support for the local Hawaiians having some form of Federally sanctioned self-governance (similar to what other local peoples in the US have) is pretty high-ranking.
And not just amongst the original Hawaiians (who now generate up less than 20% of the population), but amongst broad population and the state government (including the Republican governor of Hawaii). What that form of self-governance might turn out to be is still person debated.
Technically speaking, the US annexation contained by 1898 wasn't legal because it be done as part of a Congressional resolution, not a treaty of cession or conquest as is required by international canon. There are a number of other arguments why the American coup, annexation and statehood be illegal.
But since that time, the US military, financial and political interests within Hawaii have grown so significantly, that they will quash any secession movements, no thing how legally or morally acceptable they may be.

Just not going to happen...Hawaii is a fundamentally strategic military base. Hawaii wouldn't survive in need the rest of the US using it for tourism, especially since the Japanese are taking vacations other places due to currency rate.
I do believe the local Hawaiian, should be shown WAY more respect...but basically Hawaii would own been blown rotten the earth if the US Military hadn't come surrounded by.
That is one of the most wonderful things about living contained by Hawaii..its like your not a fragment of the mainland USA, but you are part of the US. JMO
