Locations to pop in while visit oceanside, CA?

Hi everyone! I will be visiting oceanside, CA within two weeks and am super excited. Anyone have any suggestions as to where on earth to dine or have some fun?

Answers:
Oceanside is a town geared towards Marines, so it's skimpy on the touristy stuff. There's a great Cuban Restaurant on Coast Highway. Surf Museum on Coast Highway. The sand. Rent a boat, etc. A great place for breakfast is the Beach Break Cafe, but get within early because the chain gets incredibly long.
Jays Gourmet contained by Carlsbad, or for that matter anywhere on the strand. Also, the gaslamp district.
Things to do:

Step final in time by visit the historic Mission San Luis Rey de Francia, the "King of the Missions", and Heritage Park. Regional talent is proudly displayed at the Oceanside Museum of Art, while the sport and lifestyle of surfing is celebrated at the unique California Surf Museum. The Audubon Buena Vista Lagoon is the correct place to take an helpful walk through a exceptional, protected coastal bird estuary. Shop for a wide miscellany of fresh, local, homegrown, organic produce and scrumptious baked merchandise at the Farmers Market in historic downtown every Thursday morning.

To eat: there's a pier and marina surrounded by Oceanside that are nice to walk on/at, and nearby are nice restaurants there too. Weather surrounded by late Aug/early Sept will be lovely for walking surrounded by the evening or night at hand. Several of the restaurants have outdoor dining.

You can rent boats at the next-door marina if that interests you.

Lots of nice beaches surrounded by Oceanside. But for real fun I hope you own a car as here are lots of interesting things outside the boundaries of the city of Oceanside.

I don't think the responder above lives anywhere implicit Oceanside. They described Catalina as "near"...well, it'll steal you several hours to drive to the point where you can bring a ferry to Catalina, and you'll enjoy to get within at least an hour previously you leave, and the ride on the ship is about 3 hours. So if you come up with a half sunshine trip is "near", well consequently I guess it is. For me, "near" means inwardly an hour or so. Universal Studios is north of LA so in commonplace traffic that's about 3 hour drive one mode. All the other things are within an hour.

And although Buena Vista Lagoon is close at hand, in Oceanside, you should be forwarned that it's also near to a busy freeway interchange of highways 5 and 78, somewhat ruining the peace and barely audible aspects. Whoever let the freeways be built within, well, let just speak it was not an environmentally nouns decision.
run with gyps yveq above. It is Not geared for the marines, although they are an esteemed part. Lived in attendance for 3yrs.
