Since Katrina, have Houston's crime current subsided?

I agree with Barry contained by certain instrument, but the biggest criminals in Houston are the big Oil companies NOT New Orleans. Get your facts straight.
From what I hold seen, it seem criminal activities hold increased in abiding parts of town that were not so disgraceful before. I enjoy seen disruptions on previously sluggish streets near apartment dwellings that house family that came from New Orleans. Through my available job I have notice a lot of students (currently surrounded by Houston area schools) that are from New Orleans. They are rude to educator, even when they are approached in a friendly posture. Very few show respect for others. I have repeatedly wondered what this will lead to when these students grow up. These students are within a precarious situation. They were transplanted, some near families, some not so lucky, and they hold had to scramble to gain a foothold here. I hope we can find a bearing to reach their wishes to help them grow and to become productive citizens. If departed unchecked, these susceptible young students may inopportunely become victims of the crime infested areas they live in.
There was no "crime wave".
The crime rate within Houston was increasing back Katrina. It is certain that an extra 100,000 populace added to the number of crimes, but they didn't make the >> rate<< turn up (rate = populaiton divided by the number of incidents). Local officials simply blamed an existing social trend & problem on the refugee - not a new tactic.
I expect a little "thumbs down" and maybe angry responses, but do the research yourself and compare crime >> rates << surrounded by Houston from 2000 to 2004 and then 2005 to 2007.
There were a bunch of displaced citizens, but I don't think it artificial the city more or less than it ever did. They're still paying smaller number for gas than most cities.

When the Katrina "victims" invaded Houston they crime current from N.O migrated here too. Didn't you hear about the fight in the school? DAMN!
It have eased, but not subsided. Crime is still up from when they arrived here.
