Relocating from Miami to Boston for work within mid-Fall, where on earth is the best place to live?

I will be relocating with my fiance from Miami to Boston. We hold researched like crazy in the order of where to live via heaps websites. We want a 1 bedroom with a $1200 decrease. We plan on moving in the middle of the plunge semester b/c we noticed the shape of rent being lower contained by the middle of school semesters. I am 29 and work within IT, she is 30 and works in non-profit/social work. We are going to call round in Aug. and again a short time ago before we move. I hold my eye on Somerville, Revere, Brighton, and Quincy. I am not looking for the safest area since we both grew up within rough areas, but I don't want to move into a slum. I want a regular area where on earth... rent is fair, clothed people live, some professional population, close train access, and shops/stores. Any help is greatly appreciated since I've scoured the travelfreefaq.com for yesteryear few months.
I'm also not worried about rude or snobbish ancestors... South Beach was my stomping ground and I've mastered dealing next to them...lol
Thanks for the help Bostonians!

Try staying within Cambridge or Somerville. You can find that for that price there. Plus they are both right outside Boston near TONS of Buses and Trains that go right into Boston. It is naughty easy to get hold of into Boston from there.
Well my advice would be, if you don't mind human being about 30-35 minutes outside Boston, to look contained by the Framingham area. Framingham is a massively large town beside many shopping centers and restaurants. The untried Natick Collections (formerly Natick Mall) is in the subsequent town over. The Mass Turnpike also runs right through it, taking you right smack into downtown Boston. It's not particularly slummy, but still immensely affordable!
I grew up contained by Revere and it is a great area. Also living within Everett now and that will fit your price catalogue. I would stay away from Cambridge as well as Somerville because what they acquire for a one bedroom there, you could draw from a decent 2 bedroom contained by the other areas I mention - plus parking is a pain!

Some other option are Medford or Malden.
They are all surrounded by a great area and any on a busline or a few minutes drive to the T.
Personally I would say cut into Quincy from that list, attach Jamaica Plain, Cambridge (parts of Somerville and Cambridge are almost interchangeable), also might consider Mission Hill or South Boston (not to be confused with the South End, which is nice but beyond your price range)
Boston is expensive, lots of the people who work or stir to school within live in the suburbs. Driving can be a nightmare.

The MBTA runs commuter guardrail service from Providence to Boston, many culture work in Boston live along that route. Even beside paying for the rail go by and taking the extra time many commuters prefer that to truly living in Boston!

On the Providence route the second city in Massachusetts is Attleboro. Perhaps an apartment within Mansfield, Sharon or Canton would be okay.

Good luck.
Don't go and get into the Roxbury or Dorchester areas, very highly bad. They are on the communication for crimes all the time.I ould look surrounded by cambridge or possibly even a small apartment in the North End.
So wierd! My fiance (now husband) and I moved from Miami up here finishing year and we're moving back on Friday. He grew up within MA (and hated it), but closer to NH, but have been contained by FL for seven years, so when we chose to move, we had to hunt for places adjectives over again. We ended up contained by Abington, which is about 15 minutes south of Quincy. We chose it because we considered necessary a quiet place, and relatively different building, so I don't know if it would be your location of choice, but also, we're only 1 mile from the closest commuter railing stop. Being close to the T or commuter rail should be historic to you because parking in Boston is a together different animal than trying to park in south sand. It's also a lot more cost effectual to commute, and the schedules of public transport are completely convenient. Most people commute surrounded by to the city here- definitely something I will miss. We wages $1625 for our 2 bedroom (it's a brand new building, wood floors, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, heated indoor pool contained by the complex, gym), so you should definitely know how to find something in the $1200 band. Regarding the places you mentioned- I would choose Quincy hands down. You own to also consider that in the winter, the north shore (north of Boston) other gets more snow. Seems appealing immediately, but that crap gets weak VERY quickly, believe me. Quincy is on the south shore, so that's the first sense I'd pick it. Reason two is that you will be close to several T stops on the Red Line (Quincy Adams, Quincy Center, North Quincy) so your choice of where surrounded by Quincy to live is much larger. Also, Quincy is close to 93, which is the highway that runs north-south to take you directly into Boston. It's also intensely close to South Shore Plaza, which is pretty much the only shopping arcade right in that nouns of where 93 meet 95 and route 3 towards Cape Cod. Brighton isn't bad any, but I wouldn't do Somerville or Revere- I wouldn't say they are rough, but not verbs, visually very unsightly, not as safe... I don't know- I only just wouldn't move there. I would compare Somerville and Revere to El Portal contained by Miami (like Biscayne, near 79th street). Another place to explore might be Jamaica Plain. It's not the most prestigious nouns, and some will say it's not the safest, but it's cool because at hand are lots of little cafes and restaurants and stuff, and it's close to the city. You might also try the Seaport District contained by Boston- still up and coming, and you never know- if you look, you might just find something contained by your price range. The coolest of places for you might be within Cambridge, across the Charles River from Boston. Beautiful location for purposes of transportation, clean, relatively past the worst... lots of pluses- restaurants, cafes, etc., smart and artsy ancestors who go to MIT and Harvard. LOL! Look around and see if you can find something in that. If you're open to more suburban areas that aren't that close to the city, consider the following on the south shore (still close to the T): Braintree, Weymouth, Hingham.
Good luck! Contact me if I can be of more lend a hand to you.
somerville and quincy are big no nos!! stay away from them, there are more impossible areas then dutiful. i suggest north andover MA. its where i live. (and i realize the comparison... i go 2 naples florida close to, 5x a year) its a town, but its big like a city. nearby are alot of small 1 floor houses. i think its better to live within a house than to rent an appartment, my grandfather owns an appt in brookline MA, its rly nice, we used 2 live within, um,maybe i can find some info on it, its not expensive. email me, its rly nice, he basically renovated it and stuff! actually, brookline is rly well brought-up bc it is a city and it has the city discern and stuff, but its not full of prostitutes and hobos and stuff. its a pretty good nouns, u should check it out. i have alot of family circle there!
Newton is a great city with one of the utmost ratings of safety within the nation and is very close to Boston, the green MBTA splash, and lots of shops. You can also probably find a 2 bedroom house for that price in Newtown if you parley the owner down some.
