Is Rampart Street surrounded by New Orleans safe and sound at dark?
I am headed to New Orleans contained by October, and will be staying at a B&B located on Rampart Street. The first three days of my trip I will be spending with a manly friend, but the last hours of daylight I will be on my own. As a female, it is other a concern whether or not the neighborhood you are staying in is risk-free after dark.

rampart street is a block of the FQ but not in a popualted, tourist traveled nouns of the FQ. its leads the the residental areas, i know because my church, St. Jude, is on rampart. i would give somebody a lift a cab where on earth i need to travel, its not that safe at dark pre or post katrina because the area is not especially well lit. near was of late a hit and run accident on rampart so i would try and be undisruptive, never wanted to saunter around there at dark for evening services, and i not one to fill unsafe surrounded by new orleans but basically alot of things have happen before on that street but i thinking you staying closer to esplande ave, which that nouns of rampart is pretty populated, like i said help yourself to a cab, and enjoy fun i'm nto trying to scare ya only being honest, i'm sure you'll be without blemish safe, use one and the same common sense you would use within any other big city
The other answers are correct and you necessitate to be a little more alert than usual on Rampart Street after dark. The foundation is there is a public housing nouns (the "Iberville Project") just outside the French Quarter and it is a couple of blocks bygone Rampart.

New Orleans had two public housing developments close to downtown, and one of them (the Iberville) have reopened after Katrina. The other (the "Lafitte Project") is scheduled for demolition. Before Katrina, the Iberville and Lafitte Projects be the crime generators for the internal business district and - to a lesser extent - the French Quarter. Why the Iberville is self reopened is beyond my understanding.
That adjectives said, the serious violence you see surrounded by the news nearly New Orleans is almost all drug characters butchery each other over literally toxic competition and drug disputes. Use normal adjectives sense, stay away from people involved beside crack cocaine, and you should be fine. "Normal common sense" may include taking a taxicab back to your hotel if it's past due at night. That would be moral advice contained by every city in the world.

As a New Orleans woman, I can tell you that Rampart St. is somewhat secure during the day. At dark I'd take a hackney cab to wherever it is I looked-for to go. If you catch chance, move about to Peristyle's Restaurant on Rampart! DIVINE! Probably just a couple of blocks from your hotel.

There be an incident about 3 years ago (before Katrina), where on earth police raided a dark club on Rampart street. They found 100 people contained by the club, 110 guns on the floor, and nobody could be charged with possession. 100 lawyer could all point to 99 other citizens in the club and read aloud "he did it"
reliable areas of new orleans/rampart st are not so busy at hours of darkness & not so safe. it's impressively common to detain a cab surrounded by the FQ just to jump a short way thru a not so great nouns. cabs are everywhere, do not hesitate to use them even w/ a manly companion. call a hackney carriage before you start out your b&b if it is night time. daylight is different but you still have to keep hold of your eyes open contained by those areas.the touristy parts w/ many family wandering around is where you want to be mostly...
