The Keys are great, but near are great things right here in Ft. Lauderdale too. How in the region of a walk along the Las Olas Riverfront nouns? There's a 1 hour cruise (I think nearly $17 each) that takes you through the intercoastal and points out where on earth various semi-famous ethnic group live. It cruises into Port Everglades, then north a bit beforehand returning to Riverfront. The guide talks for awhile, but later just turns on some music. It's a tremendously relaxing ride along the water, next to the music playing and drink in paw...
Riverfront is really pretty after dark near lights in the trees and such, and there's usually live music (free) to sit and listen to. There's a passageway along the river heading both east (toward Las Olas) and west (toward the Performing Arts center). Walk west along the river and you will come to River House Restaurant. The restaurant is in an outdated converted house, is very romantic, and have fabulous food, though it is a bit pricey (though cheaper than a trip to the Keys!).
If you like clubs, nearby are several within hugely short walking distance along Himmarshee Blvd.
To me, this would be a romantic, relaxing, quiet evening out.
why not go to push button west, a dinner cruise, there are a few links below.
The Keys are always nice, and it's not too far of a drive from FLL...if you want lately a day trip, you could shift to Shark Valley, part of the Everglades National Park, and slickly accessible from the Lauderdale area, as okay as pretty inexpensive because you only remuneration to get into the park (the $10 slip away is valid for one week) and then it's resembling $12pp to go on the tram or similar to $10pp to rent bikes. You could pack a picnic...
Or, if you wanted to wine/dine her, you could obtain a nice room at the Westin Diplomat, right in FLL, it's gorgeous, feel like you're on leave even though it's right in the nouns!
