Yes, it is. But, jump north to Briar Forest between Kirkwood and Houston and you see some slummy areas. Your area have some upscale apartments that are pretty good. Just don't shift too far up Kirkwood.
That area is knotty to call because they enjoy mostly well kept apartments but they own a few run down facilities as economically. I don't believe any part of Westheimer olden 610 going West is totally safe surrounded by opinion. On a amount of 1 to 10 I would say this nouns is a 7. It's not a gated community but nor is it gang territory neither.
we lived over in the nouns for a year and yes, it is safe. near is tons of shopping around there and you are close to the memorial city shopping precinct. my only complaint roughly right there is it can be a bit of a traffic nightmare at absolute points in the daylight. if you like the outdoors nearby is a paved and dirt trail that runs along buffalo bayou on dairy ashford between westheimer and memorial drive. it be one of our favorite things to go tramp on on a nice evening. lots of people out near and a pretty escape in the burbs.

Westheimer runs east and west from inside loop 610 to far west burbs.It may connect between dairy ashford and kirkwood as a cross street south of the "katy" freeway.George
