Where to eat/drink surrounded by Dallas while on holiday from Scotland, UK?

Isn't "Dick's Last Resort" still a block south of the West End? If it's still there, it's a apposite bar for drinking and in walking. Please take a hackney cab if you plan to be drinking alcohol. The police frown on drinking and driving here.
The West End is Dallas' answer to a tourist trap. Every city surrounded by the U.S. has one.
I agree beside Topper. Take a cab and gain out of the West End. It's filled next to nothing but manacle restaurants. The Palm is good though if you close to upscale dining.
The West End has kinda died down. There is a Spegetthi Warehouse and a few other small independant restaurants at hand but not much.
Get a cab, nearby are alot more restaurants on Greenville Ave. (and pubs too), Deep Ellum (more the music scene), Oak Lawn (the gay area - perfect for dancing), and probably the nicer restaurants off of McKinney Avenue.
Dallas has amazing food!!
