I would say here are much better hotels you can stay in. The hall stink, it's old and relatives who have stayed nearby say they wouldn't walk back. Hotel Galvez and the San Louis are the best and both are on the seawall. You carry better deals going through an on-line travel agency and booking ahead, they will own a list of hotels according to your price gamut. I would also book soon, everything gets booked up and you'll closing up in Motel 6 around the opening. Just my opinion but you're better sour not staying at the Flagship or atleast that's not how I would want anyone to remember their Galveston stay. Gool Luck and Hope you have lots of Fun!
Well, It may be aged and in requirement of a redo, but jetting over the hose like it does---well, I purely have such a soft place surrounded by my heart for it. So many memories... I'm glad to hear they're going to refurbish it.
Its pretty behind the times,I think it be built in the 1960's.Its not particularly clean or posh, but the rooms do jut out over the the deep which is cool. And its right on the seawall blvd.Go eat at Bennos down the street, they own the best poboys and prices are reasonable.!
Stay ANYWHERE else. It's mature, run down and stinks like mold! AND it's overprice.
If money isn't an issue, Galvez or San Luis. If you're on a budget, try the Econo Lodge...it's a 1/2 block from the seawall, but still drastically close..also in walking distance to Casey's and Guido's (more expensive of the two), both extraordinarily good.
The personality who suggested Benno's is on the money, as well. GREAT food at fine prices.
I agree beside Kimberly, it's pretty run down. I think a bright company (Landry's) just bought it lately and plan on doing a major renovation soon.
Go online to: tripadvisor.com and survey for Galveston Hotels for a good view on what hotels are good to run to. The San Luis and Moody Gardens (my fav.) are two that are very nice, but pricey.
Be sure and acquire a hotel with a big pool as the coast area is massively warm and within August the surf water temp. is too melt to help much.
