23 year elderly girl - Moving to Oregon - Portland or Bend ? And Why?

Liberal, attractive, vegan, college graduate, grew up surrounded by Southern California

Answers:
tough one, but I would enjoy to go next to Portland especially inner SE Portland. You would have more to do and at hand are several restaurants that support the vegan community within Portland such as the Paradox cafe, delta cafe and laughing planet.

Also there is several more not-for-profit organization that you can help title holder your causes next to based within Portland. Such as friend of trees, the bicycle transportation alliance, the no ivy league. Something for everyone.

Good Luck to you.
I currently live in Bend and hold lived here for 23 years. I agree that Portland is your better choice. Housing is not affordable here unless you make the big bucks and in that are not a ton of employment opportuinites either.

Bend is a awfully beautiful place and I significantly recommend that you visit here at smallest a couple times of year, especially during the summer months when you can enjoy the Cascade lake but live and work in Portland.
Portland, because there is more to do near. You will get bored of Bend unadulterated fast.
Ashland, Medford
Bend is where retired inhabitants go to. For you, Portland would be the spot. If you are liberal and lacto-vegetarian, I would suggest SE Portland. I think West Portland would be too conservative for you.

Great restaurants, incomparable culture, close to hiking, skiing, beach, camp. If you are a big sports fan, afterwards don't come here. No respectable professional teams. All sports fan around here are Beavers or Duck fans, which are collegiate team.

Weather will be severely different than SoCal. Warm during the summer times and cooler and wet during the rest of the year. But, at lowest possible you can experience all 4 season, where SoCal a short time ago gets spring and summer adjectives year around.
Portland is going to give you alot more things culturally to do. There is such a huge array of wonderful citizens there. It's the largest city within Oregon, but it's very confident to find your way around. Plus, you are going to enjoy more choices when it comes to housing prices. The weather is temperate.

Bend is becoming a retirement community. It is so dazzling there, but at hand isn't a whole lot to do. There is snowboarding and skiing within the winter months, or hiking in the summer. It is getting terribly expensive and "affordable" housing isn't going to be a very pretty place to occupy. There isn't much for available job opportunities unless you want to work at Wal Mart.

I would live contained by Portland. Bend is nice to visit, but thats nearly it.
Move to portland; and look for me!
I grew up contained by Southern California too, and I love Portland. It has more things for you to do, (based on the taste you described) and it's affordable in the right places.

Try rent.com, thats the place I looked up for apts. & houses, and they distribute you some sort of discount when you mention that you found the place through them.

Monster Jobs, Career Builders, and Hot Jobs all are great at finding you a foreign job (if you don't already enjoy one).

And it'll have adjectives the entertainment you could want/need.
