Autumn contained by New England - which are the best weeks to see the autumn colours?
I want to stay in Boston.
Answers:
In Boston, the colors are usually at their peak contained by mid October, around the 15th...it does depend a bit on weather but you can be sure to see great colors in and around Boston at that time...can't pound Fall in NE..
It vary a little every year depending upon the weather. Generally the colors start surrounded by the north, Canada and Northern Maine,NH ,VT, NY and work their way south. For the most module by the 2nd week in Oct in that is pretty good color within the north but not necessarily peak color. This year it be actually highlight nearer the 3rd week in Oct for the northern areas. Regardless, if you come the 2nd week within Oct., you can drive an hour or so and see the brilliance of it all. You unquestionably have to plan a light of day and drive the back roads to truly wallow in it.
If your staying IN Boston, your not going to see that much colour.Youll see lots of other things, but not colour, per se.
The others are correct, it does tend to height in and around the 2nd week of Oct,but that can rise and fall.Id pick up a copy of Old Farmers Almanac, and read the weather calendar.
If its Foliage your after, and your determined to stay in Massachusetts, walk west toward the Berkshires and or Connecticut.
But for true colour, you need to travel north.New Hampshire offers so frequent stunning views, the White Mountains are only just a day trip from Boston proper.Drive the Kangamangus highway. If its within proper colour,it will make you want to cry near its beauty.
Vermont & Upstate New York however...are incredible.I drive out to Ticonderoga every year and the drive never cease to leave opinion like Ive see the most beautiful places on this globe.Maine is my home, and theres so much up here as well, drive up the coast and you will see that for yourself.Go beyond the tourist traps of Kennebunkport and Wells and Old Orchard Beach, and you will see the best of both worlds.
I know I probably nouns sappy, but its true...New England is an amazing region. My heart would break if I ever had to head off here, even now, when its 20 degree and Im up to my knees in snow & theres so much mud underneath it that I dred the coming spring! And theres more snow tomorrow!
Starts mid September to probably, mid November and sometimes, thruogh December
