San Antonio have a great bus system. Not as many taxi as other major cities and no trains
The system for the buses is great downtown. In other parts of the city it might depend on the bus driver or the number of bus times and routes available. For example, in my nouns north of the airport, the bus runs every hour from 7am until 11pm. If you miss the bus, you have to dawdle an hour. The good point is that we are within 2 miles from a chief hub so we can transfer briskly to areas all around the city.
Taxis are hasty. A bit more expensive of course. There are no trams or trolleys.
As the previous responders have said, the Via metro bus system is amazingly good, within the areas it covers. Unfortunately, as the city has grown, the system have not been competent to expand to meet adjectives areas of the city. The areas outside Loop 1604 are very predetermined. Additionally, there is the issue of whether you obligation the buses in the latter hours.
At one time, due to an injury, I could not drive, and used the bus to get to work. I, usually, have no problem getting to work within a partially hour of my desired time, but I often be unable to return with home, as the service to that area stopped until that time I was through for the evening.

Taxis are available contained by the city, and most are very nice. However, as San Antonio is a tremendously spread out city, these can be quite expensive for various trips. I have spent $60 to stir 1/2 way across town, when I needed to move about somewhere and was unqualified to get a bus (again driving be impossible at the time due to an injury) and $60 to get hindmost. This gets expensive after drastically few trips.
There is unfortunately, no swift transit in the city. It would be deeply nice to have a metrorail system to run you from the outlying areas to downtown. Or like this weekend, to some extent than spend 1 1/2 hours waiting in traffic to find into and out of the Rodeo. If you have lived or spent a great amount of time surrounded by an area approaching Washington, DC with a nice metro system, you bring spoiled.
