welll u own alot of races so its mixed up. near r the rich, and there are the poor. i acutally love ATL becuz alotta familiar ppl ususally are here. usher lives here, sooo
I no longer have much apt to say. Housing is individual worth it if you can own your own home. The apartments are cheaper, but filled next to bad elements, such as critters and bugs, robbery and drug dealings. My keep man was entering apartments unannounced.
What I loved almost Georgia was the Harry's Farmers Market, the slower tread and the weather.
I moved to Marietta, Georgia from the west. I lived in Marietta for approximately one year. If everything have worked out for me there, I probably would enjoy stayed because I'm a single woman and I wanted to move to a place that be easier for a single person to live.
Unfortunately, I be disappointed. A postal worker began stealing my messages coming from the west. I also was not competent to secure employment. I'm originally from California and I could not go and get a single decent "break." I applied for job like crazy. In the wrap up, I was applying for almost anything--even at stores similar to The Home Depot, and I got no answers. It be the most shocking job inquiring that I have done within my entire life! I did everything I know how to do.
Since then, I moved posterior west. I think Georgia and the south is VERY different from the west. In the west, everybody get a chance. Nobody care where you are from. I individually think southerners are a bit INSECURE. They receive established into positions and don't want anybody from the outside disturbing their setup. They want to know, "Why did you come here?" They ask it like you did something wrong.
I also sensed some national tension, but as a black woman, I am aware with that. An elder (60-ish) white couple at a movie theater got up and moved adjectives the way to the run out of the seating aisle to obtain away from me. I'm an attractive, decent looking female--not ghetto. Another time, I applied at a distinguished employment agency online. They called me within and seemed completely anxious to deal next to me (I'm not a college grad, but have some college and worthy past job and skills), but once I walked into their bureau and they saw my face, they completely changed their tune. Since I be born and raised contained by a white community, people cannot recount that I am black on the phone. I was without being seen by the several older Caucasian females working within. It was blatant. I stayed around 10 minutes and walk out of their office.
A lot of empire in Georgia appear to expect outsiders to start at the bottom of the barrel. Everyone say, "Do anything." No, I don't want to do anything. I want to do what I am qualified to do and I want to try to earn as much money as I can because I'm alone. I thought that certainly I would find at tiniest one somewhat decent chore in the time that I be in Georgia, but no.
Georgians checked out my license plates within parking lots. They'd strain their necks to look. You hear that seriously of people move to Georgia from other states, but I reason the people moving to Georgia are mostly from the surrounding southern states (Florida, Alabama, Missouri, North Carolina, etc). It of late seemed resembling my western license plates were a BIG DEAL!
I also get a lot of rudeness from black women contained by stores like Wal-Mart. I tight-fisted, they just STARED at me. For the first time contained by my life, I have black female cashiers asking me, "Are you adjectives right?" They were looking at me resembling there be something wrong with me, when in attendance was not. Maybe I be a little tired, but I didn't look approaching a crazy chick or someone strung out on drugs. It's like they looked-for me to feel resembling something was wrong next to me. So ridiculous. I just cannot operate with those like that.
Now, I really lost my love for the south and doubt I will ever live here again. I've had adequate and I realize that a lot of general public back within don't move west because they don't have the technique to. I consider myself very lucky indeed to hold a good solid foundation and domestic to return to. I was born a west coast girl and contained by the west I will remain, hopefully until my dying day. I'll budge back to university, earn my degree and do something else to engender my life more safe and sound here.
Atlanta has plentifully of diversity to it. There is something here for everyone. As indicated in other post, the traffic is the primary problem, but you can avoid it for the most part by living close to where on earth you work or go to academy.
Atlanta is a great city...the only unpromising thing is the traffic. I grew up within NYC and Atlanta and currently live in Austin,TX. If I didn't own anything out here I would move back nearby in a heartbeat. The job are great no matter your background or industry, weather really isn't that bad...yeah traffic sucks thats in the region of it
