The group "Dropkick Murphy"...are they Irish (from Ireland) or are they Americans near Irish descendants? I've
always assumed they be Americans (the latter)? Am I right?
Answers:
They are a bunch of South Boston Irish kids. I don't think any of them come from Ireland. Southie has a huge Irish community though, so everyone is close to their roots and heritage, hence the aptitude to pull bad an Irish style music when they are not from Ireland.
Little factoid-one of their CD covers is a picture of their coat of arms design painted contained by green on a brick wall-that is in South Boston, and is solitary about a block away from where on earth I am now.
Dropkick Murphys are a Celtic punk strip formed in Quincy, Massachusetts, USA.[1] First playing together surrounded by the basement of a friend's barbershop, they blended Oi!, Irish music, and hardcore. Their influences include such outfits as Stiff Little Fingers, The Pogues, The Clash, AC/DC, and the Swinging Utters.[2]
The decoration has made a moniker for itself and built a following by their non stop touring all over the world and their major St. Patrick's Day weekend shows, which are held in Boston. Dropkick Murphys also support union and some of their songs reflect this.[3] The group is also okay known for their affiliation next to the Boston Red Sox baseball team.
