What Kind of Place is Abilene Texas?

I would like to enjoy some opinions from folks who have any lived there or know a large amount about the nouns. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I have hear some refer to it as a bible belt.. however I am not sure what that means.

small college town. Nice place to stop by. It's a true Texas town.
What I mean by that is to say, Houston, Dallas, Austin, they're like any other big city. Abilene, Midland, Odessa, Amarillo, they still enjoy that Western Texas flare.
