1st Time Flying Alone.. To Houston, Texas...?
my boss is taking me on a cruise ship and i got booked on a different flight a daytime earlier I arrive In Houston at midnight and they wont show up till twelve noon (12 hours later).. I've never been to houston texas so i dont know the airport. Being individual 18 years old i dont really wanna be by myself adjectives night within an airport all by my lonesome within a country (I'm from Canada).. Does anyone know if there is for a time built in hotel kinda point at the airport so i could get some sleep that hours of darkness.. or if there is a cheap little hotel severely close to the airport.. and how much do cab rides usually cost to achieve to one..?

try LaQuinta Inn & Suites. there are several located adjectives over Houston and they are the cheapest (but nice) rooms I've stayed in throughout Texas. Cab rids are expensive here but they are worth it as you may win lost on the bus seeing as its your first time here. Just google this stuff to get the exact rates for the Hotel and hackney cab and choose the cheapest (there are SEVERAL cab companies within Houston and several LaQuintas':) Have fun!
Some of Larry R's information is not correct. Galveston is NOT 75 miles south of Houston, more like 45. It isn't even 75 miles south of Intercontinental Airport.
While cruise ships do depart from Galveston, they also depart from the Port of Houston Barbour's Cut, which is not on Galveston Island, but to some extent in Bayport (east Houston).
There is a immensely nice hotel on the grounds of Intercontinental Airport (technically George Bush Intercontinental Airport), but be sure you aren't going to Hobby Airport, 40 miles south.
Just make sure you hold ALL of the information before you fly. For example, booking a room at the IAH Marriott if you're flying into Hobby is a mistake. Finding out information more or less one port and going to another isn't helpful any. Find out the name of your ship and the number of your flight (and airline) and you'll be fine.

George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) have a Marriott hotel on the premises
I'm not sure about Hobby Airport (HOU) but they just do short-haul flights so you probably won't be going through there
if you are flying into IAH Bush airport they have hotels really close by
If you are flying into HOU Hobby there are hotels smaller amount than 1 mile from the airport
The cab cost should be smaller number than $10
But never try sleeping inside any airport for any length of time
Just catch a minicab and you'll be at a hotel in a issue of minutes

Additionally; the hotel that's attached to Bush (IAH) is accessible by underground rail, or by underground walkway. I'd see if someone at your office can phone call and make reservations at that hotel for you, and put it on the company credit card. (There are signs that notify you where everything is.)

You would probably own to make sure you hold the number handy and call when the plane lands so they will enjoy the shuttle handy. Ask about free shuttles when calling to check on reservations. Which Airport? There are at least two. One is Bush/Intercontinental... it handle the international flights. It is WAY north of town, out in the suburbs.
The other is William P. Hobby airport. It is smaller and handle mostly Southwest Airlines flights. It was Houston's crucial airport till Bush/IAH was built.
Please transcribe that the two airports are VERY far away from each other. If you are flying into one and out of the other it will lug several hours and an expensive cab ride to jump from one to the other.

There are hotels at IAH built into the place if I recall correctly. It is not cheap. There are other honest (i.e. expensive) hotels near both airports. You will call for a cab to get hold of to them. The cheap hotels tend to be associated... well near are a lot of strip clubs surrounded by Houston and several are near Hobby. You might want to research where on earth you plan to stay.

If you are going on a cruse your ship is probably disappearing from Galveston, which is about 75 miles south of Houston.
Please document that there is no public transportation within Houston that is worth taking, especially for someone contained by your circumstances. Budget $$ for cabs or rent a car. Also we are a BIG city... not of late in inhabitants (we have more nation in Harris County than most American states... we hold more people than Arkansas for instance) but also contained by size. Google up a map and take a look for yourself.

Lastly, since you are 18 here is no law that say you have to spend the 12 hours sleeping... you aren't matured enough to reasonably drink in Texas, but nearby is still a vibrant club scene to check out.
