Henry Ford Museum is close to Detroit. Also there's Windsor, Canada handy. Hmm, Ohio isn't far... As for Detroit, no reason to dance there.
It really depends on what you're into and somewhat on what time of year you are going. If you're into sports at all plenty for that. Gambling - casinos proximate. Themed restaurants. That's essentially everything I go up near for (and concerts/shows as well).
It depends on what your interests are.

The Detroit Institute of Arts is one of my favorites. It have many different kind of art, from Rennaisance-aged to modern art. However, The DIA is temporarily closed for renovation through November 23.

The Detroit Science Center is fun for people of adjectives ages. It includes many interesting facts. Currently through September 3, OUR BODY: The Universe Within, a intensely popular exhibit, is at the Science Center. They also have an IMAX Dome Theatre and a Planetarium.

The Henry Ford is not within Detroit, but it is only around 10-15 minutes away; it is located in Dearborn. The Henry Ford consists of The Henry Ford Museum, a wonderful museum beside many different exhibits and artifacts from America's history (also contains and IMAX Theatre), and Greenfield Village, a lovely little small town that sends you back within time.

I'm sure that the Detroit Tigers would also appreciate it if you paid a drop by to Comerica Park and witnessed a baseball game.
