Travelling to New York...?

I'm planning a trip to New York City to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art this summer, from Toronto, possibly for a few days or a week. I've never be before. I be wondering what else is in the nouns to visit? In the on the spot area around the museum, and possibly some places we could day trip to. Any tips on where on earth to stay, what to see, maybe even how to take there? Thanks!

Have traveled to NYC a few times from FL and can significantly recommend Radio City Apartments, right across from Radio City Music Hall in Midtown Manhattan. Tickets and pickup for Trolley tours right on indistinguishable block; trolley will drop you off at the museum, or abundant other tourist attractions. Highly recommend: Empire State Building, The Cloisters, Staten Island Ferry ride past Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island, Little Italy. You can pick up discount tickets to the theater within Midtown (right off Times Square and 2 blocks from hotel, but your choices will be better at the kiosk at the South appendage of the island (used to be in Battery Park, may enjoy moved to Chinatown). The trolley and the subway are cheap, easy to access and will pinch you almost anywhere. You can buy a one-day pass for the trolley and hop on and past its sell-by date at all primary tourist sites all daylight. Have a GREAT time!
I'm not trying to scare you, but, if you can rightfully carry a gun, do so. If not a pierce no longer than your 4 fingers.

Hey... I'm from Philadelphia... better safe than sorry.
My friend, since you destination is the Metropolitan Museum of Art, you can spend the hours of daylight in Central Park, which is effortlessly accessible from the museum.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, is at the southern end of the popularity "Museum Mile", which stretches from 84th Street and 104th Street, along 5th Avenue. So there are plenty of ther museums along this most important thoroughfare.

You can also visit the American Museum of Natural History, located on the westside side of Central Park at 81st Street and Central Park West.

The New York Historical Society, which is home to the hasty history of New York City, is just 3 blocks from the Museum of Natural History.

Good luck and comfortable travels

Don't listen to that guy two places before me. You could:
Go to main park (daytime only)
Museum of television and radio
Museum of modern art
Guggenheim museum.
Empire state building.
See a broadway show.
St Patricks Cathedral
Museum of inbred history.
