That may also know sources for crowd estimates - at least for previous years - and you can use the hotel tenancy numbers to estimate the size of this year's NYE crowd.

I dont remember much about that evening
I looked for a while, found lots of stats for numerous events but nil on New Years. Sorry. But the crowds were out for sure. I go to the Hornets game after the Jackson Square to watch the gumbo pot drop up to that time hitting some bars and after walking home. Seemed like a well brought-up mix of locals and visitors within the quarter.
