What to do on New Year's Eve contained by NYC for a couple who does not want to stand outside?

My wife and I will be in NYC on New Year's Eve. We are contained by our early 30's and will be on our own. I don't want to stand outside and keep under surveillance the ball drop. What other suggestions might be fun for a couple?
