Santa Monica, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach or San Diego? Looking to move...?

So I am from Toronto and am looking into going to SoCal for school... within are a few different options... I really own no idea what respectively of these cities are like. I am looking for a attractive location, preferably close to the beach, next to a pretty happening social scene and profoundly of young folks in the nouns. I realize it is pricey, but I am hoping to find roommates. It'd be great if anyone could tell me which city they would recommend and why and the differences between them. Thanks! :)

i from san diego myself. this city is a lots of fun. the beach from downtown is a 10 minutes from it. san diego is outstandingly expensive to live, also gas is expensive. but you can live 6 or 8 millas from here and still is fun.
santa monica is in los angeles that nouns, and this is expensive, too
places by the beach is expensive anywhere.
San Diego near the Vista nouns has no definite traffic and would probably be a cheaper area to live surrounded by than the others. Vista is 10 minutes from the beach (Oceanside), and 30 minutes from downtown SD.

You can other looks for places to live in San Marcos and Escondido as ably, good prices and 10 minutes from Vista.

Pros: Incredible weather, and you can find ANYTHING within downtown SD, no more than 10 minutes from anything and everything you could ever need within Vista.
Santa Monica is a coastal community of the Greater Los Angeles area, within is a small downtown area near cafes and festival. The beach is gorgeous, it is also next to Venice Beach. Both enjoy happening infantile athletic crowds. You can walk to the shoreline, nightclubs and caf¨¦ and the area is safe and sound and clean. Santa Monica also have a pier with an amusement park on it i.e. famous within most movies about LA. San Diego is consisted of plentiful small communities so you have to get thinner it down to areas within San Diego.
Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, Ocean Beach, La Jolla, Gaslamp etc. From your inquiry I would chose Santa Monica.
costa mesa is probably going to be cheapest. its a nice town, i move about to school within :D
San Diego if you want to do more than work and be stuck surrounded by traffic all the time. Or surrounded by the case of Newport live surrounded by a house 36 inches away from your next door neighbor.

Santa Monica is expensive and have a bigger problem with homeless than SD.

Newport Beach, nobody really lives in that anymore. It's all be taken over by rich folks that come from back east. All the natives enjoy had to move because of the cost and adjectives of their rich kids that have ruined the coast areas..

Costa Mesa is ok but the concentration of people and traffic to turn anywhere is too much for me.

Think about north county approaching: Oceanside, Leucadia, Vista
