New Orleans trip; what places are too perilous!?
I going down to New Orleans to take some photos for a college essay, and I involve to know what neighborhoods and wards are far too risky to go into. (crime wise)

My available job takes me adjectives over the city - including the lower 9th ward, New Orleans East, and the westbank - day and dark. I am often alone and am not armed or wearing a uniform. The worst problem I own encountered surrounded by 15 months was person politely solicited for a handout by a bum at a gas station during the daytime.
Almost all (not adjectives, but almost) of the shootings and murders that happen contained by New Orleans are the result of disputes between people invloved within the drug trade. That doesn't make the crimes OK, but you really don't enjoy to worry just about it unless you plan to buy or sell crack cocaine while you are here.
The "usual advice" is to earnings attention to your surroundings, use the same rudimentary common sense you stipulation in every city surrounded by the world, and you will be fine. However, you plan to visit parts of the city that are sill underpopulated so you can embezzle photos.
The parts of New Orleans that are struggling to recover look bleak because they are still heavily damaged and few nation live there. That would as a rule trigger the concerns about "deserted" places. Remember that not a soul was ever robbed by an futile house.or vacant lot. Pay attention to your ambience and just be in motion the other way if you encounter nation who give you a impossible feeling.

um at night would be the most dicey, im a resident of the city so i know. depends on what you want to take pictures of. if its on hurricane despoil you should be perfectly fine going anywhere not a soul should bother you most people are used to it very soon. just be freidnly and explain to ethnic group who ask what you are there for. return with permisson from homeowners also before you simply go snapping away.
The entire city, stay home
are you going into these places at night? that probably make a difference. I don't know about New Orleans but most cities I find at hand are areas I'd walk down during the sunshine that I wouldn't step foot in at dark.
During the daytime, almost anywhere is protected except for Central City. This includes the lower ninth. I agree with what be mentioned above and ask anyone before you run their picture or a picture of their belongings. The city is still recovering and some people may be more interested surrounded by trying to get on near their lives.
At night, I would be as prudent as anyone at night surrounded by any city. The tourist areas are very protected at any time, but it always make sense to be aware of your surroundings. I would try to travel with a partner as it is safer. You may also want to ask another cross-examine about where on earth and what to go look at, photograph if you own a more specific plan.
Go check out the canal breaches: 17th Street, London, Orleans, and the Industrial Canal. Check out some of the foreign growth in the city, resembling the Krauss apartment/condo project at Canal and Basin. Go see the closed down housing projects, before they are torn down. Go see some of the historic restaurants: Commanders Palace, Dooky Chase, Mandina's, Hansens Sno-Bliz, or Crescent City Steakhouse. Go check out one of the city's farmer's market or art markets. You will hold plenty to document that will show the city's recovery as in good health as its post-Katrina plight.

Lower 9th ward get the most bad press, but in a minute you really need to consult the police (who don't hold the best reputation due to overwork, etc.)

I don't know profusely of cats been getting jack down nearby even Tmac said he don't know if he want to go to the allstar team game this year because he don't know if the city is safe plenty.
Plus the N.O. got dopesters a dopester is a dude who contained by a gang and he sell dope and if he pick up you slipping that could be the end of your ****** duration.
No place is undisruptive in the city anymore. (Not that it be before.) But definately stay out of the lower 9th ward, Carrollton nouns and any housing projects. Don't go out at darkness at all.
During the day things are a great deal more safe and I meditate you should probably go during the morning and with others if you can. If you are going to hurrican effect areas that still remain many of those areas are not heavily populated still and should be fine during the time but I would take precations of trying to be within a group and be smart. The 9th ward, the Westbank, in attendance were 4 shooting surrounded by oneday. Even places that were safe and sound are now terrifying, like Metarie and Kenner.
