There's a exchange cards of tunnels under downtown. They allow you to totter between buildings without self out in the heat/humidity. There aren't any subway trains down near, but there is a subway sandwich shop, and several other restaurants. When I first moved to Houston I be concerned about the deficit of people downtown - resembling a ghost town... next when I went to work downtown, my coworkers introduced me to the tunnels.
The Washburn Tunnel goes below the Houston Ship Channel.
There be a tunnel under the ship culvert, but it was closed because it be considered unsafe. I went through it a few times beforehand it was closed. I don't know roughly speaking something called the subway contained by Houston.
