Is here ever a want for a long winter coat for someone living surrounded by florida or texas?
Answers:
Not really often. I moved from Alaska to Alabama and disappeared all my winter stuff within thinking I would never need it. But the COLD down here when it is resembling in the 20s feel colder than 20s in Alaska. I dont know more or less needing a LONG winter coat. But I regret going through this winter in need a heavy coat when it get below freezing esp after I accustomed to the climate and the heat.
No, live on west coast, sweatshirt, layer..
not south Texas. I have a leather jacket and that's it. and i on the odd occasion use it.
Not a legitimate need for an overcoat type sweet jacket. But remember the southern climes have humidity. Lots of it. Add watery to any cold , then factor within wind and it become an exponential equation.
A few pairs of long johns and a weather resistant or water repellent jacket that breathes is sufficent. Of course the leather bomber type jacket is heat, but in transition it become too hot.
Be ready to or start using the trim away and allow to dry method. That is also a survival technique.
I moved to Florida from Minnesota two years ago and the warmest coat I have worn is my fleece. All my winter jacket are packed away, but I'm keeping them for when I turn snowboarding out west.
