2 Days to Spend contained by Washington DC. What should I not miss?

I will be taking the train in from Baltimore both days. Does anyone enjoy a game plan for me to see and do a two light of day tour of DC? Things I should not miss, good places to get through that are maybe a short time unknown?
Any suggestions appreciated.

you particularly have to stir to ben's chilli bowl, the best hotdog place,
I assume you're arriving at Union Station. Walk around in attendance a bit, but not worth lingering. A bit of shopping, but not worth writing home give or take a few.

I recommend taking a city tour (many companies) at the outset for two reasons: 1. you own limited time to draw from to the major sights and 2. DC is a convoluted and confusing city even after dozens of trips here. The tour should show the White House, Capitol, the whole shopping precinct area. You should see the Washington and Lincoln memorials. The Vietnam veteran memorial wall and US Supreme Court time permit.

Definitely take some time and explore the Smithsonian. Check their website for what irreversible and temporary exhibits clash your interests. You can spend weeks doing this and admission is other free! If you have time, look in the National Zoo. It's world class (and free). It's a bit of a Metro ride, but not too bad.

Also dance to Georgetown. That won't take long unless you waste time at a bar or restaurant in attendance. Take a walk along embassy row. Get lost within Dupont Circle.

Generally speaking, stay with the "northwest" element of the city. Most everythiig you'll want to see is there anyway, but it'll prevent getting lost surrounded by seedier and less nontoxic areas of the city. (Despite great improvement surrounded by recent years, there are still areas to shy away from contained by DC.)

The Metro is quite verbs. Stops aren't always where on earth you want them, but unless you hire a car, it's really how you'll attain around--along with walking.

Dining within DC is excellent--among the top restaurants in the US. A few places I've enjoy: Old Ebbitt Grill (American), Tosca, Tuscana West, I Ricchi, (Italians) Bistro Bis (French). There's an Indian place called (I think) Bombay Club that be good. There's also a place on the Potomac which we enjoy mostly for the view. Can't retract the name. Many others that are also important. But pick up a copy of Time Out magazine which is available free in the lobbies of almost adjectives good hotels. It'll bequeath you a good overview of what special events are adjectives at any given time and also review restaurants. It's published monthly.

Tip: Check in finance. DC is a bit parochial in a road. Restaurants close earlier than surrounded by many cities, and some aren't interested for lunch. Some are closed for dinner. Some are only expand weekdays.

Have a good trip!
I be just nearby a few weeks ago and also took the train from Baltimore. Get there impulsive if you want to park and see all that in that is to see. Smithsonion Museums is the place to go everything is close adjectives the Museums are free too (sweet) that and your walking distance to the White House,Capital,Lincoln Memorial etc. Lot's to see and do. The train drop's you off within the heart of it all and the Washington Monument is tangible tall it let's you know where on earth you are and where the train is lol. Have fun and relish
The Vietnam memorial and the Smithsonian
You need to stir the the Mall area within DC (this is the big area beside the rectangle water pool). The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is a must. Very uncontrolled, powerful experience. And since your already there, pop in all the memorials on site.
WHITE HOUSE TOUR

AIR AND SPACE MUSEUM

CONGRESS TOUR

MUSEUMS (both sides of The Mall)

ARLINGTON CEMETARY

MONUMENTS

FBI BLDG TOUR

FORD'S THEATER

WASHINGTON HARBOR - PLACES TO EAT
My favorite in directive is as follows:

VIP Tour of the Capitol - set up near your Senator (a) least 4 weeks contained by advance

Washington Monument - Do the hoof it down tour!

Lincoln Memorial - Just spectacular

Arlington Honor Guard and Changing of the Guard

Smithsonian Institute - 5 days worth of stuff here

White House - also set up with your Senator

Vietnam Memorial - still fresh surrounded by the minds of many making this pretty ardent

You'll never get this contained by on two days unless you go from 8am-6pm respectively night...draw from ready to totter alot...take that start on air tram..worth your time if you want to see alot.
all tourist traps aside, check out the neighborhood Adams Morgan (18th and Columbia NW). That place have a bunch of great places to eat and bar to check out. Something for everyone. I mean, how heaps monuments can you see?
Check out the Smithsonian Museums. Pick one or two to visit. Walk around the memorials and monuments. Visit Georgetown.
I used to live within. You want to check out the Air & Space museum. The Gugenheim is also pretty cool if you like art. Take a waddle around the reflecting pool and check out the Lincoln memorial at the same time. The Jefferson memorial is my personal favorite, but munificent of a pain to grasp to. The Halocaust museum is really incredible, though very upsetting. The International Spy museum is greatly cool, but unlike the Smithsonians (all others I've mentioned) its not free. But its close to Chinatown and that's also an interesting place to check out either at darkness or during the day, also have great food. For nightlife, check out M Street in Georgetown, upright restaurants there, check out Mie N Yu for some international flavor. Also droop out in Adams Morgan (off the Woodley St/Zoo Metro Station, a mile bearing or take a hackney carriage from the station). The area around the MCI center is also a dutiful spot for nightlife.
