It's not a particularly great place, but a drink at The Elbo Room (Las Olas & A1A) is a must. The World Famous Elbo Room be featured contained by that 1950s (60s?) classic film "Where the Boys Are" and have been within the same location next to the same label for a good 50 years. Have your picture taken here.
The best deal surrounded by town is Happy Hour at the Mai-Kai. It's not right on "the strip" but it's worth the trip. The drink and food specials are out of this world. (The servers in skimpy sarongs are uncomplicated on the eyes too.) Make sure you order something next to flames, either a drink or a dessert. Here is a intertwine to the Mai-Kai. http://www.maikai.com/happyhour.htm
Also make sure to stop by E Las Olas Blvd toward downtown with tons clubs and restaurants and lots of unique shops. You can shut in a trolley from the beach cheap or free. Le Bonne Crepe is surprisingly affordable and watching the chef prepare your crepe is a treat surrounded by itself.
Just a little further west, toward the Museum of Discovery and Science, are the more youth orient clubs with hip-hop and other alternative music offerings. My favorite is the blues at Poor Richard's, Open Late for Your Listening and Drinking Pleasure.
Hang out around Las Olas Blvd and the coast.
