Thinking of moving to Boston. Bad Move?
My wife and I are thinking of relocating to the Boston area. We are surrounded by are early 20's and both from the south. Have a 2 year ripened son and dog. Thinking of moving there around subsequent summer when I get out of the Army to aim employment as a Cop. Wife has a amount in accounting. Is Boston a fitting idea, person my wife and I are not from there and we are from the south, or does that not thing? Any help is appreciated.

no it doesn't matter that you are from the south. In reality I am from the south and I am moving to boston in Feb. I tight-fisted its cold and all but contrary to what most northern folks think it does acquire just as cold down here it's in recent times not as cold as for long as it is in the north. Just trade name sure you visit past u make your final choice. Do what I did drop by in the summer and the winter so you can experience a short time of both! Good Luck!

Well first bad, I believe you need a residency requirement of one year to become a Boston cop.
Secondly, even if you enjoy that residency requirement taken care of, it is still awfully difficult to land a position as a cop in Boston. Many of the positions travel to minorities, since there is a 50-50 ratio (of white and minority cops) surrounded by place, although your military service will help.
Do you by any uncertainty have a bacheolor's or associate's point to go along near your service? If not it doesn't necessarily matter, but it can't hurt.
Thirdly, and I'm not trying to discourage you, but it is not an overstatement to vote it is expensive to live in Boston. I assume you would be renting and the prices are sky illustrious. Buying a home within the city (which you would necessitate to do if you want to be a cop here---once again residency) is even more brutal in lingo of prices. Stay out of the bad areas: Roxbury, Mattapan, life-size parts of Dorchester (except Adams Village and close by), parts of East Boston (especially Maverick Square), the ghetto half of jamaica plain (the wife is really expensive and yuppieish), and Hyde Park (pretty ghetto),. Roslindale, west roxbury, charlestown, south boston, the other part of jamaica plain, adams small town in dorchester submit varying amounts of housing, but it will be expensive most likely, unless you are a great negotiate hunter. Downtown is impossible if you don't have lots of lolly (i.e. back cove and beacon hill). I would notably recommend Brighton and Allston as places to rent, as prices are relatively low here for boston, but it is also one of the safest parts of the city.

It is a especially nice area, but possibly you should try visiting it first. It is exceedingly different than most southern states, but everyone is very nice at hand.
I grew up contained by Boston and now live surrounded by CO. I have traveled adjectives over the South. And I can tell you the differences.
New Englanders are quick and can be perceived as curt or rude. They aren't being any. We just tend to do things hurriedly, expect things fast, etc. We chitchat fast and expect decision to be made fast.There isn't much getting to know you chit chat near strangers.
Also the politics are very liberal and the diversity and culture is great.
The adjust of season is gorgeous but the winters can be very cold near that humidity and ice.
Being from nearby, I love it and plan to go support some day. The historic buildings are delicate as well.
Boston is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G
BUT ur southern so u might not fit in for the in haste pace energy
