It depends on how frequent miles out from DC you want to live and whether you take the Metro or drive. If you drive you can estimate it will probably give somebody a lift you about 1 hour. My Dad worked surrounded by DC for 30 years and that is how long it took him. Of course he retired over 10 years ago, so it is probably worse in a minute.
